Karishma and Rusty met at a bar in Austin while hanging out with mutual friends from Google (where they both work), and quickly realized they share a love of hockey. Watching hockey games quickly turned into concerts, hiking, trying new restaurants in Austin, and spending time with friends.

In 2018, Karishma decided that their relationship was serious enough for Rusty to meet the family. It went well enough that by the end of the weekend there was talk of wedding venues! Six months later, Rusty surprised Karishma by interrupting her “girls’ night out” with a proposal on a rooftop in Austin overlooking their “Owl Building”.

Then just two days after Rusty’s hockey team, the St. Louis Blues won their first Stanley Cup in 50 years and one year after Rusty met the family, they were married in a small civil ceremony in a park in St. Louis, Missouri (where Rusty is from) their families to witness.

They planned to have their Indian wedding a year later, in 2020 but COVID had other plans for them. A few postponements later, they decided on 2022, and couldn’t wait to celebrate the Red Miraculous Wedding with all of our family and friends at the Hard Rock Riviera in Mexico. 

 

Karishma and Rusty chose #RedMiracleWedding as their hashtag because it combines the meanings behind each of their names. Rusty means “the red one” and Karishma means “miracle”. They both believed it a miracle that a white boy from St. Louis and an Indian girl from Miami would find each other in Austin, Texas.

They chose a South Asian wedding photographer who they found online and fell in love with their Indian wedding photography portfolio. The couple chose I do Celebration and Shaadi Destination to help plan and organize their events. The South Asian destination wedding photography is filled with joy and love from start to finish!
