Tamira and Anuj’s Indian Wedding at Hotel Xcaret Mexico was a beautiful celebration of love, Hindu traditions, and two people whose paths seemed destined to cross.
Both grew up in Edmonton, Canada, just one street apart, yet they never met. Years later, Anuj met Tamira’s brother while attending medical school, eventually bringing Tamira and Anuj into the same social circle.
They became close friends but spent several years living in different parts of the world. By chance, their paths crossed again in Baltimore, Maryland, and this time their friendship developed into something more. They began dating in 2012, and in 2016 Anuj planned a surprise proposal in Edmonton, where both of their families lived.
The couple later settled in Virginia, where they both work as Internal Medicine physicians. Beyond their careers, Tamira and Anuj share a passion for travel, dancing, music, and sports, especially ice hockey, a natural favorite for two Canadians.
For their destination wedding, Tamira and Anuj brought their closest family and friends together in the Riviera Maya for a symbolic Hindu beachfront ceremony at Hotel Xcaret Mexico.
The tropical surroundings created a spectacular setting for the vibrant colors and meaningful traditions of their Hindu celebration. Against the natural landscape of the Riviera Maya, the ceremony was filled with intimate family moments, emotion, and the energy that makes Indian weddings so special to photograph.
Following the ceremony, the celebration continued with an elegant reception at Las Cuevas, one of the resort’s most distinctive spaces. With the help of Xanath Banuelos Wedding Planning, the different elements of the celebration came together beautifully.
Photographing an Indian Wedding at Hotel Xcaret Mexico gives us the opportunity to combine documentary wedding photography with the extraordinary natural environment of the Riviera Maya. Located near Playa del Carmen, the resort offers tropical vegetation, water, distinctive architecture, and dramatic spaces that create a beautiful backdrop throughout the wedding day.
Our approach was to document Tamira and Anuj’s celebration naturally while preserving the color, movement, traditions, and genuine emotions shared between the couple and their families.
Their wedding photography tells the story of much more than a beautiful destination celebration. It reflects two people who grew up only a street apart, traveled different paths around the world, and ultimately found their way back to each other.
