Anuksha and Sameer’s Royalton Riviera Cancun wedding brought together three days of South Asian traditions, emotional moments and joyful beachfront celebrations in Mexico.
Anuksha and Sameer first met in 2011 during their freshman year of college in Newark, New Jersey. They became friends through mutual connections and continued crossing paths throughout their college years. In the summer of 2015, their friendship grew into something more, beginning with a first date at Grand Lux. Four years later, Sameer proposed on Christmas Eve at the same place where he had asked Anuksha to be his girlfriend. Surprised and overjoyed, she said yes.
The couple wanted their wedding to feel like an unforgettable vacation shared with family and friends. They chose Mexico for a three-day South Asian destination celebration and selected Cossu Photography to document the experience.
While visiting Mexico to explore wedding locations, they met us for an engagement session in Puerto Morelos. One year later, we reunited for their wedding weekend at Royalton Riviera Cancun.
Their celebration included four events across three days. The weekend began with a henna party, where Loto Mehendi created intricate designs for the couple and their guests while everyone enjoyed music and dancing.
After several days of rain, the sun appeared for the Pithi ceremony. The sea was calm and thousands of butterflies surrounded the celebration. Later, Sameer made his entrance during the Baraat before the festivities continued with a lively Sangeet beneath the stars.
The final day featured a beachfront wedding ceremony at the Royalton Riviera Cancun gazebo, followed by an energetic reception. From the meaningful traditions and quiet exchanges to a dance floor filled throughout the night, every part of the weekend reflected Anuksha and Sameer’s connection, their families and the joy of celebrating together in Mexico.
