Karlin and Andrew’s Puerto Morelos wedding at Ventus Marina El Cid brought their adventurous love story to the Caribbean coast. Their celebration combined an emotional ceremony over the ocean, playful portraits and a reception filled with dancing and genuine moments between the couple and their guests.
Karlin and Andrew met on their first day at the University of Wyoming in Laramie in August 2015. From the beginning, they felt an immediate connection and quickly discovered that they shared a love of adventure.
Their first official date was a sunrise hike to Medicine Bow Peak, approximately one month after they met. Since then, hiking, skiing, travelling and dancing have remained important parts of their relationship.
Karlin and Andrew had dreamed of skiing together in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. When they finally made the trip, the conditions on their first morning in the mountains were perfect.
Andrew suggested stopping to take a photograph. While Karlin was removing her gloves and paying little attention to what he was doing, Andrew moved onto the slope below her, took out a ring and asked her to marry him.
Caught completely by surprise, Karlin initially responded with disbelief before happily saying yes. The proposal reflected their relationship perfectly: adventurous, spontaneous and filled with laughter and emotion.
For their destination wedding, Karlin and Andrew exchanged the mountains for the warm coastline of the Riviera Maya. They chose Ventus Marina El Cid in Puerto Morelos as the setting for their celebration.
Their ceremony took place on a dock extending over the ocean, beneath a bright blue sky and soft white clouds. Surrounded by family and friends, the couple exchanged their vows against the natural backdrop of the Caribbean Sea.
The waterfront location provided a beautiful environment for documentary wedding photography. The light, movement and open landscape allowed us to create relaxed portraits while preserving the spontaneous reactions shared throughout the ceremony.
Karlin and Andrew brought their playful personalities into every part of the wedding day. After the ceremony, Andrew celebrated with joyful jumps while Karlin’s dress moved through the ocean breeze. These unscripted moments showed the trust, humour and connection that define their relationship.
At the reception, the newlyweds surprised their guests with their first-dance moves before everyone joined them on the dance floor. The celebration was energetic, emotional and filled with the warmth of the people closest to them.
Photographing this Puerto Morelos wedding meant documenting a couple who approach life with openness and enthusiasm. From their first sunrise hike to their beachfront wedding in Mexico, Karlin and Andrew have built their relationship around adventure, friendship and complete trust in one another.
